Miguel Torres Santa Digna

The Torres family surname features in Catalan history since the 17th century and has been linked with wine for more than three centuries. Don Miguel Torres Carbó arrived in Chile in 1979 and acquired a small winery in Curicó.

The winery was opened at the foot of Andean volcanoes in the Central Valley of Chile (Curicó), where a great range of wines is made in a truly privileged land.

Crown Liquors is proud to offer this fine Chilean wine as our wine of the month for September 2007.

  • Merlot

  • Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Sauvignon Blanc

Root 1 Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

The grapes were hand-harvested from the vineyards of Suspiro, in the Colchagua Valley of Chile, a warm valley that specializes in red grapes, like Cabernet, Carmenere and Syrah.

In this area the wines are rich in red fruit aromas, with very ripe, silky tannins and an intense finish. El Suspiro, or “the whisper” is an area with loamy stony soils, where low plant vigor and all-day sun produces Cabernet with more red fruit flavor and soft elegant tannins.

This fine Cab is intense, cherry red in color, with ripe berry notes, including raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and plums. Attractive aromas of coffee and dark chocolate combine with a touch of tobacco, smoke and vanilla, into a rich structure with soft tannins. A full-bodied wine with a long and concentrated finish accented with fruity, smoky notes.

It's created solely from the hybrid grape Baco Noir. The Baco Noir grape is an extremely hardy grape, grown very well in New York State.

2006 Riesling

Riesling is one of the less-appreciated grape varietals in the Western World. However, if there is one New York State wine that is "world class, this is it!

2004 Merlot

This wine was crafted from 100% Merlot grapes picked at peak ripeness. After 24 months of aging in French oak, the result is a rich wine with approachable tannins and ample fruit.

Harvest Moon

This Cayuga/Vidal blend exhibits intense peach and ripe apricot aromas. Its semi-dry style and well balanced acidity make it a perfect complement for spicy dishes, fish, or just relaxing with good company.

Black Dirt Blush

This rather unique wine is a blend of Catawba, Vincent and Delaware grapes which are varieties native to Eastern North America.

2006 Pinot Noir

Our Pinot Noir is fruity, yet dry and has an extraordinary compatibility with food. While it is very well matched with more delicate and subtle dishes, Pinot Noir is irresistible when paired with more highly seasoned, smoked and even spicy dishes.
